Considering that I had a fear of feet growing up, working with them is the last thing I thought I’d be doing! I stepped into this profession after studying and working in kinesiology, exercise physiology and health information management. Each field proved to be interesting, but always lacking “something” for me.

Then came my internship with a pedorthist. My first day on the job felt like being back in kindergarten — but for adults! Learning to use a bandsaw and an industrial grinder, cutting, pasting, heating material and creating plaster molds… all of this combined the ‘arts & crafts’ aspect of the field, with the science of biomechanics that I had studied in school. I finally found that special “something” that was missing: hands-on creativity.

I love the 1-on-1 interaction that I have with my clients as they work through their recovery process. Being able to handcraft their custom orthotics from scratch, and watch such a simple change make a huge impact on their daily lives, is truly a passion of mine. These days, feet are not longer scary to me, but rather a fascinating part of the many different complex bodies that I work with and learn from every day.

When I’m not at the clinic, you can usually find me at the dog park with my son, at the climbing gym or squash courts, or in the backcountry on a canoe trip.

I know first-hand how physical activity and movement can improve and enhance your quality of life. I truly believe that every individual is unique and requires a personalized plan of care tailored to their needs. I am especially keen on empowering others to learn about their bodies and to find ways to manage their pain, mobility, and fitness. I like to use a combination of manual therapy, education, functional exercises, and coaching to help you achieve your specific goals.

Whether it’s a specific injury, long-term nagging pain, or something in between, I look forward to working with you to get you back to doing the things you love!

When not at the clinic you can find me doing something active, like playing ultimate frisbee, golfing, skiing, running, or venturing to the woods camping in Algonquin.

I grew up in North Vancouver and have always loved being active. Growing up my favourite things to do were skiing, running, exploring the forest in my backyard, and playing road hockey or football with friends. At Western, I played on the Mustangs football team and — inevitably with contact sports — sustained multiple injuries. I had firsthand experience in the rehab process with some awesome physiotherapists that helped me get back to the sport I loved. Working with such great people made me realize that I wanted to pursue a career as a physiotherapist.

I am passionate about building relationships with my patients to help them achieve their goals. My approach involves developing a comprehensive plan with an emphasis on education, hands-on therapy and individualized exercise.

In my spare time, I like to hit the gym, golf or squash courts. I also enjoy trying out new restaurants around the city and spending time with family and friends.

I grew up in Ottawa watching football and found myself paying more attention to what was happening on the sideline when players got hurt than the game itself. This lead me to pursue Athletic Therapy and ultimately I ended up moving to Philadelphia to work in sports full-time.

When I moved back to Canada and started working with the Canadian Wheelchair Basketball Team, I quickly learned how beneficial manual therapy could be especially when combined with a supporting exercise program. Because of this, I ended up going to school to become a Registered Massage Therapist. I believe combining massage therapy with my athletic therapy background allows me to help my patients return to the activities they want to do.

When I’m not working, you can find me walking around the neighborhood with my dog Gozo, or on the water as a member of one of Toronto’s competitive dragon boat teams.

Growing up, I had permanently bruised shins from all the activities I’d get up to - whether that be team sports, tennis camp, or exploring the great outdoors. As I got older, my active lifestyle (and the resulting injuries), combined with exposure to the world of kinesiology and athletic therapy, led me to pursue physiotherapy.

As a physiotherapist, my passion for movement is always growing and evolving. I have learned that the human body is a beautifully complex machine — one that can think and feel, adapt, and become stronger and more resilient. I consider myself lucky to be able to come to work, listen to my patients’ stories, and work together to get them back to the activities that make them feel alive: exploring with their families, nurturing an urban garden, or performing at the highest level of their sport. I have a special passion for working with athletes of all types and levels, including rock climbers and cyclists. And as a professional bike fitter, it’s always an immense joy to be able to help cyclists feel better (and faster!) on two wheels.

Outside of [mend]physio, you’ll likely find me out on my mountain bike (or the occasional long gravel ride), at the climbing gym, or in my home gym… Or, when I get the chance, backcountry hiking, downhill skiing, and searching the globe for delicious food. When feeling a bit less activity-inclined, I’ll be found caring for my multitude of houseplants and native foraging fruit garden, reading a great book, or lounging with my cat, Elliott.

I grew up outside of Vancouver and realized a little later in life that working in physiotherapy was for me! The journey to becoming a physiotherapist has been one of twists and turns; after working in immunology and cancer research, I shifted my career to youth services, working with at-risk youth to develop programs to promote activity, social engagement, and empowerment. A few injuries here and there, plus countless hours of self-reflection on my values and lived experience, I realized a career in physiotherapy was the lock to my key — a career that allows me to bridge health, research, and community in a meaningful way.

Pain and injuries can be complex, so I am committed to breaking down complicated information into simple chunks, to ensure understanding. Physiotherapy is a form of lifestyle coaching and should 100% be client centred, so by using an integrated approach that includes active listening, education, activity modification, client empowerment, and exercise, we can work together to reach your goals.

When I’m not at the gym or calisthenics park, you can find me in my spare time walking my dog, playing guitar, honing my craft as a home chef/bartender, and playing volleyball, spikeball, or table tennis.

I’ve always lived an active lifestyle growing up on the West Coast of Vancouver, and although I call Toronto home now, I still enjoy my outdoor activities. I loved playing many different sports growing up, but I lived and breathed volleyball. I was lucky enough to play two years of College Varsity Volleyball which is where my curiosity for the human body peaked.

As a practitioner, my patients and I are a team. I like to educate and empower them to take an active role in their treatment goals. We focus on breathing and slowing things down to connect the mind and body, and celebrate the small wins while having our eyes on the bigger picture.

In my down time, you can find me on a nature trail in the fall with a hot cup of joe and a big warm scarf, strapped into a snow tube in winter flying down the hills, and playing beach volleyball with friends in the spring/summer. Otherwise, I’ll be travelling and stuffing my face with all the yummy food the world has to offer. Food is fuel but also delicious!

I grew up just outside of Vancouver, and at an early age I found myself fully immersed in sports. I eventually landed some hockey injuries of my own, and through picking the brains of those helping me recover, I fell in love with the idea of helping others to overcome their physical limitations.

Since then, I’ve been privileged to travel the world for both school and hockey; these days, I feel lucky to come to work every day and help others to excel in their sports, at their workplaces, or in their daily lives. It feels great to connect and together come up with a game plan — a blend of hands-on therapy, exercise programming and education that works for each unique individual.

In my spare time, you can find me at the ice rink, gym, and keeping up with the standings/stats of pretty much every sport imaginable. Go Canucks go!

Growing up in Toronto, I was not an active kid. I was not enrolled in every sport possible. I was always picked last for every team. And I nearly drowned as a child.

Needless to say, if you were to tell me that I would one day become a massage therapist for one of Toronto’s top private clinics and work with some of Swimming Canada’s greatest athletes, I would have laughed in your face!

But life has a funny way of taking your perceived weaknesses and gracefully revealing them as strengths, as joy. I may not have been the strongest athlete or most elegant mover, but I certainly didn’t let that stop me from understanding how other people could achieve such great athletic feats.

The human body is fascinating. It amazes me that we all have the same bones and muscles, yet we manage to move and experience pain/injury so differently. That’s why it’s important to watch people move as a whole and not just focus on one specific area. As a practitioner, I strive to put the “therapy” back into “massage therapy”: a relaxation treatment can be great, but helping patients to recover through specific treatment plans and exercises is what’s going to help them see a big difference.

For fun, I enjoy powerlifting and the occasional Crossfit class. As for becoming a better swimmer, I am…still working on that part.

I grew up as a very active and busy child. My early life consisted of growing up in a small town in Ontario and playing organized sports such as soccer, football and lacrosse. Prior to finding a career as a Registered Massage Therapist, I primarily worked towards strength training and weightlifting and became absolutely fascinated by what the human body can accomplish and how we move as a whole.

Since becoming an RMT, I have found a passion for caring for others and encouraging people that they can be their best selves with the proper approach and a little bit of guidance. My treatment style is focused primarily on the pain a client’s day-to-day life is being interrupted by and how they can build better movement practices throughout the day to help manage that pain on their own.

I have also found an interest in Pre/Post Natal care so much so that in November 2021 I completed my Pre/Post Natal Doula certification in hopes that I could integrate the knowledge and practices into helping ensure clients have the proper resources and information in all stages involved in perinatal care.

In my off time, I love exploring Toronto with my partner, seeing as many shows/concerts as I possibly can, trying as much food as humanly possible, and relaxing at home with our 17 year old cat, Millie.

When I was thirteen, I took my first summer job — begrudgingly — volunteering in the physiotherapy department at a local hospital. After my first shift, I begged my parents to let me quit; why on earth would anybody want to become a physiotherapist?!

Here’s the plot twist: by the end of that summer, I had completely fallen in love with the profession. I learned that physical therapy seamlessly integrates movement and human interaction, while helping people get better / be stronger / reach their goals. And in later years, through education, training, basketball and rugby injuries of my own, I grew to truly understand the human body as a whole. To this day, I live to understand the interconnections of its systems, and try to teach my patients how to be proactive instead of reactive when it comes to their health.

I love working and living in Leslieville! In my spare time I play guitar, travel and explore Toronto’s breweries. And despite my passion for the great outdoors, indoor rock climbing is my latest obsession :)

I have always had a passion for movement. I grew up tobogganing down the hills of Riverdale Park and eating cheese pies on the Danforth on my way home from school. I spent a lot of my time riding subway trains to soccer fields and volleyball practices, and have always had the desire to create with, learn from and motivate those around me. This naturally led me to the world of exercise science, sports medicine and physiotherapy, and I feel so lucky each day to love what I do.

The connections between the many complex systems of the body have always amazed me. I am thankful to have studied with many teachers in a variety of settings, including my patients and their stories. I use an integrated, individualized approach, and have found that my strength is in breaking down what can sometimes seem like a complex and overwhelming amount of information, into simple, manageable terms. I listen, educate, and collaborate with my patients to get them moving forward, whatever that looks like for them.

Outside of [mend]physio, I am the lead therapist for Volleyball Canada’s beach national team, and enjoy traveling, running, and wandering Toronto’s many neighbourhoods.
